Sound care from Sprakel

When Holly Sprakel returned to Mount Gambier 18 months ago, she brought with her more than just a suitcase — she brought a vision.

That vision has grown into Sound Audiology, a thriving local business dedicated to providing expert audiological care for people of all ages.

Starting small, Holly began her business from a single rented room at Open Door Health.

But it wasn’t long before the demand from the community outgrew the space.

“After six months, it became clear that our services were needed on a much larger scale,” Ms Sprakel said.

That realization led her to open her own dedicated clinic at 50 Sturt Street — a central hub for comprehensive hearing care.

Fast forward to today, and Sound Audiology has expanded not only in space but in team and impact.

Now joined by fellow Mount Gambier locals and audiology specialists, Chantel Vause and Amy Hulse, the clinic continues to deliver on its mission: audiology for all ages.

Driven by a deep passion for community health, Holly’s work goes far beyond the walls of her clinic.

She’s initiated a number of community outreach programs aimed at improving hearing health education and access:

● Nursing Home Visits – Monthly visits to Boandik aged care facility ensure continuity of care, along with staff education and hands-on training.

● Children’s Ear Health Checks – Holly and her team conduct regular ear health assessments in local childcare centres, catching early signs of hearing-related issues that could affect speech, sleep, or development.

● Community Education and Training – From educating seniors at community forums with local MP Ben Hood about government hearing services and funding, to upskilling staff at care facilities — Sound Audiology is making noise in all the right ways.

“There’s no boundary too high for us,” says Ms Sprakel.

“We want to empower our community with knowledge and audiological services — one ear at a time.”

With her entrepreneurial spirit, community-first mindset, and expanding team of professionals, Holly Sprakel is making a lasting impact, ensuring that the sounds of life are heard clearly by all in Mount Gambier.
