Exhibition helps celebrate 30 years

Joint winners of the 2021 Wattle Range Art Exhibition People's Choice award Jenny Bishop and Carol Baxter.

The 2022 Wattle Range Art Exhibition launches tomorrow night with this year’s event coinciding with the Millicent Art Gallery celebrating 30 years since it opened.

A wide variety of work will be on display showcasing Limestone Coast and Western Victoria artists

Prizes are awarded to the overall winner of the Wattle Range art prize, youth, mayoral award and first time entrant.

Judges for this year’s exhibition are Dr Lisa Slade and Kay Lawrence AM.

Dr Slade is the current Assistant Director, Artistic Programs at the Art Gallery of SA and Ms Lawrence an Emeritus Professor at the University of South Australia with an international profile as a tapestry weaver.

Ms Lawrence was instrumental in the design and lead artist/teacher for the 1986 Millicent Tapestry located in the Millicent Gallery Library.

The exhibition opens Friday, November 11th, 7pm at the Millicent Art Gallery.
