Get ready for the festive season to really kick off this Friday with the Naracoorte Christmas Pageant on again.

The man in red will arrive, along with floats, food and free family fun.

Naracoorte Business Association president Tom Shortt said all are welcome to the family event.

“We’ll have all of the food vans, so o a variety of foods, and we’ve got a couple of wine tents,” he said.

“We’ve got about four or five market stalls.

“Animals Anonymous are coming so people will be able to meet some animals, and a bit of a native play activity, some face painting and jumping castles as well.

The best part, Mr Shortt said, is the fact the night is free.

The fun will start at 5pm, with the pageant scheduled to start at 6pm.

“We’ll be open afterwards so people can keep getting food. And that’s when we’ve got a bit of entertainment,” he said.

“It will be a good evening for everyone, and free – other than paying for food and whatnot, there’s no entry fee for the actual event.

“All that entertainment stuff – like the face painting and jumping castles and things – won’t cost people a cent.”

“The more people we get, and the more people we can say came along means that next year, we can aim to try and make it bigger and better and keep growing as an event for Naracoorte.”

Mr Shortt encouraged everyone to look at the local shops this Christmas.

“It is definitely an important thing, I think at the moment, with a lot of businesses doing it tough that where people can, if they can, they support local businesses as much as possible,” he said.
