An artwork recently exhibited at the Millicent Gallery has been donated to the Biggest Morning Tea event being hosted at the library next week.

Artist Julie Ann McKewen is a gallery volunteer who recently held her solo exhibition, The Nostalgic Journey of Creativity, in the gallery space.

The artwork, titled Le Jardin, is a delicate artwork featuring hand stitched and embroidered elements and is a testament to friendship.

Library volunteer Wendy Thomson is helping to organise the morning tea and said she was gobsmacked by the offer.

“The artwork was generously donated by Julie Ann and it was a piece of art off the wall displayed in her latest exhibition.

“It has a sale value of $500 and is a very humbling donation.

“It is going to be raffled and we have started to sell tickets,” she said.

Tuesday’s history volunteers are hosting the event which follows on from last year’s inaugural morning tea held at the library.

“People can expect lots of fun and laughter, tea and coffee, and homemade scones,” Ms Thomson said.

The Biggest Morning Tea event is being held on Tuesday May 7 at the Millicent Library and starts at 10am.

The cost is $5 per person and raffle tickets are available at the library.
