The call has gone out for Millicent Show memorabilia anyone may have either proudly on display or hiding away in a cupboard.

Memorabilia is being sought for a book being planned to commemorate the 150th year of the Millicent A. H. & P. Society in 2027.

Although the 150th is over three years away committee members are keen to find out what treasures people can share with the organisation.

The content of the book is still to be formalised and one of the reasons a call for memorabilia has gone out so early.

“We need to get it started now so in the next 12 months we have a good idea of what we’ve got” Millicent Show secretary Sue Vanderheul said.

“Then we can find other stories to expand on that.

“One of our members has been helping to collate the minutes which date back over 100 years and we are going back as far as we can”

Ms Vanderheul and publicity officer Helen Cranage suggested things of interest could be newspaper cuttings, old photos, trophies and ribbons.

The committee is happy to take ownership of the items, if they are no longer wanted, or they can organise copies.

“Anything at all to do with the show, old invoices and stuff like that can be really revealing, it’ll say what the cost of things were.

“A lot of older people are downsizing and the family don’t want some of their things

“Any show stuff donated we can put it on display in our history cabinet.”
