ACCESS to Allendale East Hall is easier than ever following completion of a new concrete entrance.

The entrance – which was funded by a Stand Like Stone grant – will allow those with mobility issues to easily access the entrance of the historic building.

Allendale East Hall committee member Richard Ferguson said they were all very appreciative of any grant they received.

“We have raised a lot of money for the hall but it also costs a lot of insurance,” Mr Ferguson said.

“We have had feedback about the concrete from the community already and they say it is looking really good.

“It just makes it better and more accessible as the previous entrance was higher and cracked where people could trip over as they were going in.”

He said next steps to further improvements of the hall included completing painting both inside and outside as well as a verandah for the storage shed.

“We want to put a verandah there and in summer we could put a barbeque out there and make it a barbeque area,” Mr Ferguson said.

“We also need to finish painting the hall inside and outside, mostly in the cloakroom and the lady’s toilets.

“We also really want to thank those who have given us money along the way such as the District Council of Grant, OneFortyOne and Stand Like Stone because everytime we go to apply for something we are helped and the community grants help us each year.”
