I would like to tell you about a person named Bill Sands. He grew up in a well-to-do home.

His father was a respected judge. His mother was a popular socialite.

At the age of twelve, however, Bill’s life came crashing down when his parents divorced and by the time Bill was twenty, he had become angry at the world which he perceived was against him. Bill began committing some serious crime which led him to be put in prison.

One day a new prison warden innocently asked: “Why are you here?” After filling the room with profanities, Bill answered, “Because no one cares for me.”

The response the warden gave that day had a profound impact on Bill life’s and was recorded in a book he wrote later in life tilted ‘My Shadow Ran Fast’ (I quote) “My whole life was turned around with just three words as the warden said, ‘Bill, I care.’”

I wonder: how many broken lives, desperate decisions, and terrible mistakes are the result of people feeling that no one cares? Well, I have good news for you: Someone cares!

For I am the Lord your God who takes hold of your right hand and says to you, Do not fear;  I will help you. (Isaiah 41:13)

These are the words of a Lord God who cares for you. A Lord God who is right there beside you, holding you hand and guiding you in your daily life. The Lord God cares, so in the midst of life troubles, from the depths where you may feel like Bill Sands- that no one cares for you, be reassured that the Lord is right beside you in your life. The Lord will help you by giving you a peace of mind that you are not alone in life’s journey.
