Robe was forced to fight hard to hold off a determined Nangwarry in Round 9 of Mid South East football on Saturday.

The weather was as expected at the sea-side venue but the home side was out of the blocks fast, with a handy 26-point lead at the first break.

It appeared a big score was on the cards, as Robe banged on a further six majors in the second quarter to create a handy 58-point lead which would be hard to chase down in such adverse conditions.

However, the Saints were not done and began to find some run in the third term, with eight majors to close the margin to just 20 points.

Andrew Hyland was in good form, with the Saints finding the spearhead forward, who finished off will style.

That put the Roosters on notice and they could not relax.

Despite a handy lead in the adverse conditions, Robe needed to dig something out to put the game to bed and that came in the final stanza as the Roosters began to again build their advantage, with four majors to ice the game, while holding the Saints to just two.

Up forward it was all about Lachlan Hentschke, as he increased his tally as the game unfolded, finishing with nine goals, an impressive effort considering the conditions.

Jack Kelly (3) and Thomas Miller (2) also kicked multiple goals for the victors.

For the Saints it was again Hyland who stood tall, with seven majors to his name.
