A well-deserved life membership of the Millicent Golf Club was handed out on Sunday by club president Mark Pilmore.

Pilmore, presented Mardi Sunderland with her life membership before a large crowd of players, friends and family.

Sunderland has served the club as women’s captain, on the women’s committee, executive committee, finance assistant and the main online contact.

Her voluntary work has also covered cooking, catering, bar duties, golf cart hire and endless other tasks that are never quite covered by formal roles.

Amongst it all she has managed to play consistent golf over many years, winning major championships and trophies.

Over the October long weekend the popular tri-tournament between Millicent, Blackwood and Loxton was held and well supported, the perfect occasion for Sunderland to be honoured.

She is the longest serving member of the tri-tournament group and has attended the competition for the majority of its existence.

It was fitting Sunderland received her award in front of the large gathering, with Millicent winning the tournament for the third year in a row to add the final touch to a great weekend.
