Tantanoola hosted Mount Burr in Round 9 of Mid South East netball and came away with a hard-fought victory.

The Mozzies won the toss and chose the centre pass which they utilised well through Ebony Clark, who put her side’s first score on the board.

The Tigers responded much the same through Emma Gould, who wasted no time with the ball and shot her first goal.

The quarter then went goal-for-goal, with neither side giving an inch.

Just a solitary goal separated the two sides at the first break.

Neither side made changes going into the second quarter and the first half of it replicated the opening term.

It was the Tigers who were able to turn ball over with some impressive hands-over pressure in the goal circle by Tayla Rowe and some crucial rebounds which they were able to convert and take a 31-25 lead to the long break.

The third quarter did not disappoint, with both sides fighting hard for every ball.

Meg Fennell and Zoe Brown were able to move the ball quickly in attack and found each other on circle edge despite the efforts of the Tiger’s mid-court defence, Kristy Varcoe and Madi Kelly, who made each possession hard.

An even quarter by both sides showed little change on the score board, with the Tigers up by seven and the final break.

Tantanoola came out firing in the final quarter with intent to score quickly through Gould.

Casey Walker found space on circle edge but with every ball contested by Mount Burr’s Simone Westerman.

Mount Burr’s Olivia Dean tried to shift momentum for her side with some crucial tips but down the other end Bromley and Rowe had the same idea.

Both sides battled hard all game, but it was the Tigers who took the points with a hard-fought 12-goal win.

Best players for the victors were Madison Kelly and Gould, with Dean and Madison Haggett best for Mount Burr.
