B RESERVE – HATHERLEIGH 43 D MOUNT BURR 38

HATHERLEIGH and Mount Burr faced off in the Mid South East netball B Reserve grand final, with the game close until the very end.

Mount Burr had an early lead, with goalies Sophie Jankowski and Karen Hayward shooting with accuracy, going into the first break with a four-goal advantage.

Changes were made by both teams with Sally Bateman entering the court at centre for the Eagles and Mia Grant at wing defence for Mount Burr.

The defensive line-up for both teams fought hard for every possession, converting with ease through their accurate goal shooters.

Dawn Smith and Bec Fox applied intense pressure to Hatherleigh’s goalies, limiting their rebounding opportunities.

The Eagles fought hard in the second quarter to have a five-goal turn around, sending them into the half-time break with a one-goal lead.

The second half saw a defensive change for both teams and the Mozzies moved Ava Smith-Muhovics into goal attack, with Hayward going to the bench.

The change had impact for the Mozzies, Smith-Muhovics using her accuracy in the goal circle to shoot the majority of the goals for her team in the second half.

Hatherleigh extended its lead further in the third quarter, with Eliza Burton shooting 12 of the 16 goals for the Eagles.

Mount Burr fought hard in the last quarter, only missing one goal between the two goalies, but Hatherleigh had put in the hard work in the middle two quarters to come away with the win.

In2 Trophies best on court went to Eliza Burton.
